AS2: A Data Exchange Standard
AS2 is a standard by which users transfer EDI or other data – such as Extensible Marking Language (XML) documents – over the Internet using the HTTP or HTTP/S protocol.
AS2, or Applicability Statement 2, offers distinct advantages over HTTP, including increased verification and security achieved through the use of receipts and digital signatures. Its transactions and acknowledgements occur in real-time, increasing the efficiency of document exchanges. AS2 is also referred to as EDIINT AS2, or EDI over the Internet AS2.
Early adopters demonstrated that VAN bills could be reduced and near real-time EDI communications could be achieved using AS2. Wal-Mart adopted the technology and began the move to AS2 in September of 2002. Since then, the number of Retail chains and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) companies adopting AS2 as a method for communicating EDI data with vendors has continued to grow.

enjoyed by the Retail and CPG marketplace including the healthcare supply

number of financial institutions.
